Living Large with the AARP Set

Flew to Miami yesterday and got met with a guy holding a sign with my name on it. That’s a first for me! It’s all part of the VIP treatment for bloggers of a certain age here at the AARP Life@50+ Blogger Expo.

I’m here to learn all about the great discounts you can get when you join AARP.

I’m staying at the Palms Hotel at the north end of South Beach, a very classy joint, I must say.

Last night we had a splendid dinner at the Oceanaire Seafood Room in Miami.  First an appetizer buffet with crab legs, lobsters, oysters, shrimp and scallops (wrapped in bacon).

Then I had a delicious fish called cobia, pan-seared with sweet potatoes and pineapple chutney, prepared by Executive Chef Kareem Anguin, who explained that the fish is hatched in Florida and then raised at sea in Panama.

Don’t ask about the caramel chocolate cake.
