Where are the world’s Top Wine destinations?  The editors of the travel website, GoNOMAD.com spent a lot of time and bent a lot of elbows pondering this question.

They developed a list of these top wine places, where your palates will be quenched with delicious varieties of wine, and the locals truly appreciate the importance of wine in daily life.  Here are the top ten:

1. Reims, France
2. Santiago, Chile
3. Aquitaine/Bordeaux France
4. Healdsburg, California
5. Piedmonte, Italy
6. Minho, Portugal
7. Northern Croatia
8. Egar, Hungary
9. Velke Bilvice, Czech Republic
10. Tbilisi, Georgia

France, wherever you go, has got to be the number one old world country for wine lovers.  Also I’d say that Australia is pretty darn amazing when it comes to wine appreciation. It’s the only place besides New Zealand where the bartenders routinely let you taste the wine before you buy even a small glass. The servings cost about $11, so that seems only fair.

We know there are some surprises on this list…for example, Tbilisi, Georgia. Here, the locals say “we invented wine.”  History backs them up.  I think the people at Tesco Wine would benefit from this list, hey it would make a great floor display with a little map and some free samples.
